[Perhaps the journal picks up the sound of Neville's arrival as he is unceremoniously deposited on the icy southern lake sometime in the dead of night. If not that, then it might catch the dull groaning as he slowly wakes and struggles to pull himself upright. If not that, then certainly the furious squeak from sneakers lacking traction on slippery ice would catch the journal's attention, as would the dull thudding as Neville collides with some child's forgotten snowman on the westernmost bank. A sharp intake of breath, then] No wand. Bastards. [In fact, even though Neville hasn't yet noticed the presence of the book at all, he seems perfectly aware that someone is listening, even if it isn't quite who he expects.]

It's still not enough! [The words, though a bit rasped and wheezing, are spoken with the stubbornness of one who rather expected this displacement.] You think you can just Portkey me someplace and be done with it? You won't get me -- not any of us -- to back down that easily. I know you're here -- show yourselves, you bloody cowards!

[The dead silence is less than encouraging. It means that if he wasn't being watched, then he'd been sent far enough that he wouldn't need supervision. Accio wand. [The incantation is intoned softly through clenched teeth. It doesn't escape him how ironic it was that in his desperation to recover his stolen wand he's resorted to a summoning spell that usually required the use of his wand in the first place. The spell fails spectacularly, leaving Neville to suppose his captors laughed, wherever they happen to be.

Still, the place he'd been sent certainly merits some investigation. If he'd been sent here via portkey, then some other innocuous-looking thing might well be the ticket home. It might appear off for a young, underdressed, blackeyed, fairly beaten and emaciated man to be picking up small stones with a thoughtful expression, but finding an alternate portkey is simply the most plausible way back to the more important matters he'd left at home.]

[Draco Malfoy and the Action of Being Squashed]

hisdarkmark: (I die a little more inside)

[Draco had just started sitting up when he suddenly has a pile of specky git land on top of him and his head slams back against the ice again]

...ow. [He cracks open an eye to stare up at him, glaring a bit.] ...what are you doing, Potter?
From: [identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com
Ack! [Draco is not exactly a very good cushion for someone who is crash-landing. But he does manage to catch Harry successfully, even if Harry's glasses did go flying. Dagnabit, it's hard to see if you're bleeding to death when everything is all blurry.]

I was trying to see if you were alright. [He's staying put and awkwardly feeling around on the ice for his glasses.] They've got to be around here somewhere.
hisdarkmark: (I think this backfired)
From: [personal profile] hisdarkmark
[Draco just snarls a little, reaching back for Harry's glasses that he can see] And you planned to accomplish such by landing on top of me? Thanks a lot, glad to see your concern, get off. [Grabbing Harry's glasses then and slipping them onto his face for him anyway.]
From: [identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com
[Harry blinks as Draco slides his glasses back on.] Er, thanks. Sorry.[Rolling off now and checking to make sure that skull isn't cracked now.] I wasn't exactly intending to land on you. I was in a rush.
hisdarkmark: (I forgot how to smile)
From: [personal profile] hisdarkmark
M'fine...[No matter how much he says that, he still hasn't sat up though.]
From: [identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com
[Harry is looking at him oddly.] Are you sure you're not hurt anywhere?
hisdarkmark: (I think I'm going to be sick)
From: [personal profile] hisdarkmark
[Closing his eyes again and still laying on the ice] I'm fine. Why are you here?
From: [identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com
[Harry pulls his legs close to keep himself warm, but he's sitting next to Draco anyway.] I'm here because I don't think you and Neville were going to get off on the right foot, and I think you came out of it worse for wear than he did.
hisdarkmark: (I see something different)
From: [personal profile] hisdarkmark
Yes, well, thinking was never your strong point. [Once he notices that Harry's actually not moving, he opens his eyes and stares at the sky instead.] Shouldn't you go make sure he's not freaking out about being in this "prison"?
From: [identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com
Who says it was ever yours? Besides yourself, I mean. [His tone is light, and he doesn't really mean it as a serious jab. Even though it's sort of true. Harry is watching Draco from the corner of his eye.] He found the house, which means someone led him there and is explaining to him what we know is going on. If he's staying there, I have plenty of time to catch him up on my own side of things, including why I started trusting a Slytherin. That he's not in the lake right now means you two got off to a better start here than you and I did.
hisdarkmark: (I lurk in the shadows)
From: [personal profile] hisdarkmark
[He just snorts and shakes his head, still looking at the sky instead] The lake's frozen, in case you haven't noticed. [He seriously wouldn't try to drown Neville anyway, no matter how much he'd like to.] Whatever, so everything's fine. Can you leave now?
From: [identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com
[There's a sigh of annoyance.] Well spotted. That's also changeable. [Harry is less likely to trust angry!Draco. Silly lake incident. Also, ignoring that request.] What happened?
hisdarkmark: (I'll watch this time)
From: [personal profile] hisdarkmark
It didn't change though. So drop it. [Draco's fairly angry about a lot of things though] He landed on my lake, we spoke, and then you started pulling on the necklace.
From: [identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com
Fine. [Understandably so.] I pulled on the necklace after he told me where he ended up, and I suppose I was trying to get your attention before you found him here so you two wouldn't run into each other on his first day here.
hisdarkmark: (I think I'm going to be sick)
From: [personal profile] hisdarkmark
Hah. Just a little too late, I'd say. [Finally shifting to sit up, wincing a little and rubbing the back of his head]
From: [identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com
My bad. [Watching him carefully, none too pleased about that potential bump on the back of Draco's head. Damn.] What happened?
hisdarkmark: (I'm actually minding my own business)
From: [personal profile] hisdarkmark
[He shakes his head slowly to focus on what's going on] It's nothing. Let's just go, okay?
From: [identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com
[Harry turns and waves a hand in front of Draco's face. He didn't get a concussion, did he?] You're upset about something. That's not nothing.
hisdarkmark: (I don't know what you mean)
From: [personal profile] hisdarkmark
[Depending on how hard he hit his head. He's probably just dizzy.] I'm not upset, shut up.
From: [identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com
[It wouldn't have been too, too hard. At least, that's what Harry hopes.] You're acting all gloomy.
hisdarkmark: (I don't trust you)
From: [personal profile] hisdarkmark
[It probably wasn't, though he did hit it twice. He just shakes his head again.] Am not. My head just hurts, and you suck at interpreting people.
From: [identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com
[Harry snorts.] And I suppose you're being as charming and pleasant as ever. Did you invite Neville over for tea?
hisdarkmark: (I have no idea what I'm doing)
From: [personal profile] hisdarkmark
...Harry just shut up, okay? [Finally getting to his feet and brushing himself off before slowly starting to walk off]
From: [identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com
[Whoa. Harry is surprised for a moment, but he's up quickly.] Look. You two are going to keep going around in circles as long are you're both here unless something changes. I want to help, but I need to know what's going wrong. This isn't just stupid schoolkid stuff anymore.
hisdarkmark: (I have to do this)
From: [personal profile] hisdarkmark
[And suddenly in one fluid motion Draco's turning again and has his wand drawn, pointing it straight at Harry] Shut. Up. I don't need your help!
