1st seed; [Action/Voice]

[Perhaps the journal picks up the sound of Neville's arrival as he is unceremoniously deposited on the icy southern lake sometime in the dead of night. If not that, then it might catch the dull groaning as he slowly wakes and struggles to pull himself upright. If not that, then certainly the furious squeak from sneakers lacking traction on slippery ice would catch the journal's attention, as would the dull thudding as Neville collides with some child's forgotten snowman on the westernmost bank. A sharp intake of breath, then] No wand. Bastards. [In fact, even though Neville hasn't yet noticed the presence of the book at all, he seems perfectly aware that someone is listening, even if it isn't quite who he expects.]

It's still not enough! [The words, though a bit rasped and wheezing, are spoken with the stubbornness of one who rather expected this displacement.] You think you can just Portkey me someplace and be done with it? You won't get me -- not any of us -- to back down that easily. I know you're here -- show yourselves, you bloody cowards!

[The dead silence is less than encouraging. It means that if he wasn't being watched, then he'd been sent far enough that he wouldn't need supervision. Accio wand. [The incantation is intoned softly through clenched teeth. It doesn't escape him how ironic it was that in his desperation to recover his stolen wand he's resorted to a summoning spell that usually required the use of his wand in the first place. The spell fails spectacularly, leaving Neville to suppose his captors laughed, wherever they happen to be.

Still, the place he'd been sent certainly merits some investigation. If he'd been sent here via portkey, then some other innocuous-looking thing might well be the ticket home. It might appear off for a young, underdressed, blackeyed, fairly beaten and emaciated man to be picking up small stones with a thoughtful expression, but finding an alternate portkey is simply the most plausible way back to the more important matters he'd left at home.]

[Action, because Snape is fabulous enough to make ANYTHING look good]

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
What do you mean, from the same time?
hisdarkmark: (Default)

[Action, because that's probably true enough]

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2010-02-11 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean exactly what I'm saying. You're from the same time as Potter and the rest of them.

[action] - ♥!! oh I do XD 6 inches out there and OH HOW IT HURTS DX

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
But that's... that's awful! Harry, Ron, and I have been working hard to stop all this. [But she still can't imagine what it was like to actually live it.]

...What do you mean 'in hiding?'

[That hook of hers isn't letting Neville go any time soon.]

[Action, because Neville would rather deter any combination of his Gran and Snape in future thanks]

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Which makes you different how, exactly? [He might not believe whatever answer he gets, but he'd still like to know what story Draco's shilling.]
hisdarkmark: (I'm not sure how to take that)

[Action, because vultures are actually pretty scary]

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2010-02-11 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Because I'm from June of 1997.

[action] - ♥!! Owwww. =X It snowed like 24 hours over the last day or so and we're just cleaning n

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I know you have. You'll do it, too. I believe in you.

I.. ah.. [Hesitation hesitation hesitation.] Well, you see I sort of became a bit of a nuisance to them after a while. They want to keep people scared and well-behaved, and I tried to always stand up to them when they'd act out of line, like Harry probably would've done if someone tried to make us practice the Cruciatus on students with detention. And when I wouldn't back down to the usual bullying, things got a little serious, and I figured it'd be best if I got out of sight for a while. They went after my Gran to try getting the DA to stop, but Gran can take care of herself better than any witch I know. She sent that Death Eater to St Mungo's, I heard. Right now, we've still got a decent headquarters for people to stay when they've gotten too conspicuous. It'll -- We'll be fine until you're done. We can be patient.

[Action, because so are Snape and Gran.]

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[His nostrils flare a bit with swallowed anger.] That's some kind of holiday for your lot now, isn't it?

[action] - ♥!! Yeah it was like two days straight for us and university canceled a lot of classes.

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
...Thanks, Neville. [And she'll offer a tired smile.

[That quickly fades as he talks. Sounds about as bad as what she's been through... what with Godric's Hollow, Malfoy Manor...

[Still doesn't really help the shock factor.]

... [treasure this moment, Neville. Hermione "Know-It-All" Granger is at a loss for words.]

I can't believe that's happening. Or going to happen for me. Erm, and that's another thing I should tell you about. People here can get pulled from the strangest times. I think Cho's from around where you are, Harry remembers Gringotts but I don't, I remember Malfoy Manor in March, Luna's from Christmas, and Draco's from the end of sixth year. And that doesn't even count some of the others...

[oh and yes she did just call Malfoy by his first name. Have fun with that.]
hisdarkmark: (I swear you'll pay for that)

[Action, because a lot of things in this canon are scary]

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2010-02-12 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
You think I would have chosen that date if I really had a choice?

[action] - ♥!! YAY for time off though!

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-02-12 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
[He kind of wishes that she wasn't so speechless. Her doe-eyed stare is a little uncomfortable, and Neville tries to downplay it by shrugging.] It's okay, nothing like the adventure you're having. Or will have, when you get to it.

[He nods at the list of hostages from their world, until the mention of Malfoy's first name throws him fully off track.] How long have you been calling him that?

[Action, because you're so right. =X]

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-02-12 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Judging from what I've seen come from you since then, absolutely. [Not that his opinion is colored or prejudiced in any way, of course.]
hisdarkmark: (I have the power in my hands)

[Action, because I usually am right =(]

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2010-02-12 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
And just what have you seen, exactly? [He wouldn't put it past him just to exaggerate to make Draco sound bad.]

[Action, because OH YEAH damn it you won again. >(]

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-02-12 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
You've tortured people. Laughed when they broke. Helped keep the first years chained up like animals. [So maybe some of that was Crabbe and Goyle. And maybe the two of them enjoyed it more. The three of them are fully interchangeable as far as Neville's concerned.]
hisdarkmark: (I never realized how big the world is)

[Action, because I have to win sometimes to make up for Draco always losing]

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2010-02-12 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
[He knew about the Cruciatus, but the rest of it? No.] 'Broke'? And what's this about first years? [What the hell kind of future is this?]

[Voice]

[identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com 2010-02-12 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
To be fair, it happened to Ron and Hermione, too. [At least Neville's fanboying doesn't make Harry feel uncomfortable.] It's part of the nature of Luceti to try and take people away from their worlds. We can't get back home, or back to Hogwarts from here.

[Naturally!] One of his mates lives next door - some alien woman who lets him stay over. Nott and Malfoy share an apartment but obviously Malfoy isn't there a lot. He and I are sort of getting along, mostly because Tom Riddle was here. Or rather, sixteen year-old Voldemort. We sort of agreed that he was worse than anything we could manage to do to each other.

[Action, because you speak truths. Carry on.]

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-02-12 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
Broke. There's no point torturing someone if there's not a proper result. "You want to hold your wand steady when you use the cruciatus, and keep it on them until the scream changes pitch. That's when you know you're starting to get someplace." Isn't that what you've been taught? Don't you want to slither your slimy way back to the top of the class? [He sneers distastefully with the face he used to use only when impersonating his grandmother.] Some first years were being held in preparation for their detention. The Carrows made quite a show out of disciplining the person caught trying to free them.

[Voice]

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-02-12 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Well, of course! When you three get together, you're pretty unstoppable, aren't you? [There's still a grin in his voice, because it's still so thrilling that you haven't died, Harry.] But what good does that to for anyone?

[He'll take a minute to give his head time to stop exploding.] You-Know-Who was here -- at the same time as Malfoy-- Harry, he must have been spying on you! Has he cursed you?

[Voice]

[identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com 2010-02-12 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
Mostly. Voldemort and the Death Eaters make it difficult sometimes. [Harry's amused at this. He's glad that all of them are alive, even if Ron isn't here.] It apparently helps them. It's rubbish for all of us, though.

[Yeah, that one's a bit of a doozy. Harry looks a bit awkward.] No... he didn't curse me and he wasn't spying on me for Voldemort. It was the other way around - at least the spying bit. It's mum who's all into him. Malfoy - he's not really a model Death Eater.
hisdarkmark: (I'm realizing this was bad)

[Action, because I approve of this]

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2010-02-12 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
...Carrows. [He doesn't lower his wand, but he does loosen his grip just the slightest. Yeah, Luna definitely didn't tell him this part.] So it's all true, then. They really do have us practice the Cruciatus on people in place of scrubbing cauldrons. And Snape's just allowing this?

[Voice]

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-02-12 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
Well who are the blokes, and what's the point of helping them at all?

...Harry, maybe this is something we ought to discuss face-to-face. [Just to be sure that Malfoy's not feeding answers in Harry's ear at wandpoint or something.]

[Action, because I NEED TO TURN OFF MY 360 TY. IT IS A SICKNESS.]

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-02-12 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
[Luna's too gentle. Probably wanted to spare Draco's feelings.] Snape's one of your mates, isn't he? Of course he lets it happen. He hired the both of them to teach subjects.
hisdarkmark: (I control the world around me)

[Action, because I was wondering where you went XD]

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2010-02-12 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
[Maybe, but that didn't stop her from PT'ing him.] What subjects?

[Action, because I might have been having a life! Or something! ...maybe someday.]

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-02-12 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
[He probably deserved it, the git.] Muggle Studies and Dark Arts.

[action] - ♥!! yeees even if it nearly makes me miss choir XD i'm sooo off schedule

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2010-02-12 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
I've had enough of an adventure... Malfoy Manor was more than enough.

[She doesn't even think about it.] Four months. I know it sounds like rubbish - Ron didn't believe me, either, when he was here and it took ages for Harry to warm up to him. Malfoy isn't the one we need to worry with. I don't think he's as bad as everyone thinks he is.

[Voice]

[identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com 2010-02-12 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
There's no point to it, I think. We're just stuck here because we're inside this giant barrier and there's no way to get out.

Yeah, there's a lot to explain. Where are you, anyway?
