1st seed; [Action/Voice]

[Perhaps the journal picks up the sound of Neville's arrival as he is unceremoniously deposited on the icy southern lake sometime in the dead of night. If not that, then it might catch the dull groaning as he slowly wakes and struggles to pull himself upright. If not that, then certainly the furious squeak from sneakers lacking traction on slippery ice would catch the journal's attention, as would the dull thudding as Neville collides with some child's forgotten snowman on the westernmost bank. A sharp intake of breath, then] No wand. Bastards. [In fact, even though Neville hasn't yet noticed the presence of the book at all, he seems perfectly aware that someone is listening, even if it isn't quite who he expects.]

It's still not enough! [The words, though a bit rasped and wheezing, are spoken with the stubbornness of one who rather expected this displacement.] You think you can just Portkey me someplace and be done with it? You won't get me -- not any of us -- to back down that easily. I know you're here -- show yourselves, you bloody cowards!

[The dead silence is less than encouraging. It means that if he wasn't being watched, then he'd been sent far enough that he wouldn't need supervision. Accio wand. [The incantation is intoned softly through clenched teeth. It doesn't escape him how ironic it was that in his desperation to recover his stolen wand he's resorted to a summoning spell that usually required the use of his wand in the first place. The spell fails spectacularly, leaving Neville to suppose his captors laughed, wherever they happen to be.

Still, the place he'd been sent certainly merits some investigation. If he'd been sent here via portkey, then some other innocuous-looking thing might well be the ticket home. It might appear off for a young, underdressed, blackeyed, fairly beaten and emaciated man to be picking up small stones with a thoughtful expression, but finding an alternate portkey is simply the most plausible way back to the more important matters he'd left at home.]

[action] - That's how all of my threads are XDDD

[She understands his words all too well and definitely takes him up on the hug... but the arms and shivering are noticed. She pulls back, frowning.]

Neville, what... you've got a black eye. [brb using the healing magic she learned from the spirit here and then conjuring up blankets for him.]

I'm glad to see you but... are you all right?

[action] - It'll get to the station sooner or later!

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, it's no big deal -- I'm fine -- nothing to worry about! [And though the warmth of the blankets is appreciated, he covers himself immediately mostly to hide more of himself from her gaze. He's not really in the mood for a "woe is me" party.]

Tell me more about what's happening here. The book you spoke to me from said something about captives from different worlds? [He still hasn't touched the book yet.]

[action] - Yes indeedy! And we'll enjoy the ride while we're on it!

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[She sees what you did there, Neville, but she won't press you for now.]

It's a long story... And one that's best talked about at home. Can you hold on if I Apparate us both? Oh, and you'll want to hold onto your journal.

[She quickly summons it and tucks it into her handbag, which her mun forgot to mention she has with her is ridiculously small and doesn't look capable of holding the journal.]

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
If you can manage it.

[Eh, he's pureblooded -- he doesn't question her Handbag Magic. Stuff like that just happens. He obligingly holds on to her waist and gives her a chance to perform her magic.]

[action] - ♥?

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I ought to be able to.

[And it's Hermione Granger. Stuff happens around Hermione Granger. She makes sure one of her hands is holding his other shoulder just in case as she turns on the spot and drags them both into darkness with a loud CRACK.

[Moments later, they land in her room of the DA House and she lets go, quickly moving to place a silencing spell around them. Then she digs his journal out and offers it to him.]

All right... The first thing you need to know is that everything I'm about to tell you is strictly a secret. Most of the housemates know, as well as Tonks and Lupin, but it all has to be kept off the journals. We can't let the Malnosso, the people "in charge" here, know what we know.

[action] - ♥!! As I make a quickie nonpost on my way out the door SORRY <33

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[He nods dutifully, his eyes focused firmly on her as she fills him in. He takes the journal gingerly.]

Sounds a lot like Hogwarts so far. Do go on.

[voice]

[identity profile] awaitingalbion.livejournal.com 2010-02-10 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Then the Malnosso must have captured more. [He sighs.] I'm sorry.
hisdarkmark: (I wish I could see that far)

[Action, because you totally just set me up for it bb]

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2010-02-11 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
[As per usual, Draco's disobeying Hisoka's orders out and about even though it's late at night and he was out at what he'd dubbed as "his" lake when he suddenly hears something land rather hard on the ice. He jerks his head up and narrows his eyes a bit to glance out at the lake. What the hell was that...]

[Voice]

[identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
[Harry just stares at the journal for a moment. He remembered hearing a little bit about Neville and the girls's efforts to try and steal the Sword of Gryffindor, but that still sounds rougher than he would like.]

Neville, is that you?

[Action, because it's never too early to prod "nearly drowned me in a lake" references from Harry :3]

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
[By then, Neville's busied himself with the journal, examining it at a cautious distance as well as he can manage in the darkness. It'll be a minute before he realizes someone else is nearby, though he does jump at the passing of most forest creatures. Even enshrouded by nightfall, he makes a skittish shape at best.]

[Voice]

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
[It sounded like Harry. But Harry's voice was famous enough to be easily imitable.]

That depends. [Some more hesitation before he recalls Hermione's method of identification.] In fifth year, I received a plant as a birthday gift. What was it called? [He didn't normally expect people to pay much attention to him when he went off on long plant-rambles, but Harry was his roommate, and they'd gone through the kind of stuff together that changes lives and relationships. Harry, out of all people, would be sure to remember his random self-absorbed trivia.]

[Voice]

[identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
[It's just an illusion! It's actually a Horcrux!]

[...okay that's only partially true.]
Mimbulus Mimbletonia. Didn't you get it from your great-uncle? [Harry would love to just be a wallflower, but all that fame gets in the way. But Neville's a good friend of his, and definitely the kind of person whose self-absorbed trivia is worth remembering.]

[Voice]

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
[At least Neville isn't troubled with having to know what a Horcrux actually is.]

[The icy terseness melts away from his voice.] Harry! Harry, it's really you! You're alive! I knew you were alive, I kept telling everyone to just wait and see and you'd be back soon enough. Have you been here the whole time, then?
hisdarkmark: (I don't need your help)

[Action, because Draco's not happy with more Gryffindorks <3]

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2010-02-11 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
[It doesn't take Draco long to pull out his wand] Lumos. [He pauses then to scan the area, trying to figure out what the hell is going on.] Who's out there?

[Voice]

[identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
[Good point. Or even the fact that he dodged a bullet with that one.]

[There's definitely a smile in Harry's voice.]
Sorry things have taken so long, Neville. Are you alright? I haven't been here the whole time. It's sort of weird. Nott says he saw me returning to Hogwarts, but I don't think I'd gotten that far ahead in time. You're in a place called Luceti right now, and I don't think time applies here.

[Action, because Neville totally KNEW there'd be some Slytherins.]

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
[The light is somehow more alarming than it really ought to be, and a flare of panic makes retreat a very appealing option. But running meant there would be no answers. It also meant playing directly into their hands. He swallows hard before stepping more directly into the light from Draco's wand, stopping only long enough to brush some uncombed hair out of his unswollen eye as he strains to get a better look at the source of the light.] I think "who" is a bit less important than where "out there" happens to be.

[Voice]

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
Well of course you haven't been here the whole time -- we've been keeping up with the papers and heard lots about the things you've done -- like the dragon!! But it's been a while since there's been news. I didn't realize you'd been taken -- you'd think they would've wanted to brag about it at least a bit, but [Wait. What was that other bit?] ....Theodore Nott?

[voice]

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
Don't be sorry. Is there anything more you can tell me about these Malnosso?

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 07:33 am (UTC)(link)
When it comes to kidnapping, there's always a reason, whether or not you get to know what it is.

But enough about the place itself -- what about the route to our homes? [Since he's still fairly sure this is all a trap about to force him into running a magical maze. It'd be best to figure out the rules first.]

[Voice]

[identity profile] cruxofapotter.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 07:45 am (UTC)(link)
The dragon was sort of a happy accident. [Chuckling a bit.] They're not the ones who got me. It was this place. They probably don't even know I'm gone, unless Voldemort somehow remembered.

...Yeah, Theodore Nott. He's here, though I haven't heard from him in a while. A lot of people are here from our world, including a few surprises. We've got a big house on the southern end of town, right now Hermione, Sirius, Cho, Luna, and I are living there. Malfoy is next door sometimes. I'm not exactly sure where Dumbledore lives, but he's here as well. Tom Riddle was here, but I haven't heard anything from him lately. And that's not it, either. [Holy crap, describing this cast takes forever.]

[Voice]

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 07:59 am (UTC)(link)
Only the kind of accident you'd have, Harry. [He's not fanboying -- it's just being a good friend! Well. Maybe with a little fanboying.] ...I don't follow.

[And though Harry's just said several significant things, again Neville zeroes in on the most important bits.] Malfoy's here -- occasionally next door to you? Malfoy and Nott are together? And you speak with them? Harry, have you gone round the bend? Don't you know what they're capable of doing?

[Voice]

[identity profile] derek-bliss.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 11:38 am (UTC)(link)
There is no way home, from what I've been told. You're pretty much stuck here. A few folks have apparently managed to just...disappear, and in theory make it home, but I couldn't tell you from personal experience if it's true. I'm only a month new myself.

[voice]

[identity profile] awaitingalbion.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
They're scientists and they've trapped us here. But, sometimes they take people out of here and conduct these experiments on them. [Huff.] They have someone I know, right now.

[action] - ♥!! That's okay! I really need to converge all of Mione's notes into a post someday...

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[She's not letting him off the hook. Just moving the hook to the 'later' placement. Hermione can now prioritise her arguments. Isn't it amazing?

[She takes a seat on her bed, and offers the other end of it or the chair nearby if he wants to sit down.]

First thing you should know: This place is called Luceti. There are impenetrable barriers surrounding Luceti. The people who control the environment, or most of it, are called the Malnosso. They live beyond the barrier and no one's been able to get past a barrier without their consent. The general belief, and the one we try to tell the Malnosso, is that they are the ones who bring people in and send them away. According to my research, this may not be true, but no one's really certain. I believe it's a product or ability of Luceti itself.

[Now she's rummaging around in her handbag again for her notes. Must be sure she has her figures right. Hopefully this gives Neville a chance to digest that before she tl;drs later on.]
hisdarkmark: (I control the world around me)

[Action, because Draco's nosy and can't leave sleeping dogs lie]

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2010-02-11 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[While Neville might not see who he is right away, Draco instantly recognizes him once he moves closer. There's a groan suddenly and he's resisting the urge to just start ranting, but that probably wouldn't help much.]

Luceti's not what you have to worry about. I think "who" always outweighs it.
