Fourth Seed; [Action]

[This morning isn't terribly different from any other morning near House 26. The lawn there is a little bit greener than the neighboring homes, and the multicolored plantlife is as healthy as ever, fed a steady diet of the best quality dung Neville can get his hands on. The gardener is even mostly the same, a boy of average height spending far too much time on his hands and knees in the mud getting filthy in the care of things that can't talk back. It's not even very strange to hear him chatting with the vines and petals surrounding him, though this particular morning he seems to be hissing at his garden rather than rambling on in English. For those who recognize it, the language is Parseltongue.]

...And I haven't found a single lead anywhere in this place. I think there just aren't any Horcruxes to be found here. I should talk to Harry or Luna about this, shouldn't I? ...No, you're probably right. It's supposed to be a secret. What's that? Your leaves are getting dry? Well don't worry, I'll fix that.

[Later in the afternoon, after he's had a shower at least, he'll venture into town, rifling pointedly through the rebuilt item shop for something very specific and emerging empty-handed. It's okay to miss him as he moves among the people in mid-town, though; he avoids eye contact like the plague. Still, he won't be unfriendly if approached. Feel free to gape at the lightningbolt scar just barely visible under his fringe. He's used to it.]

[OOC: AU Cheatsheat is here.]

[Soaring about town, Terra (http://community.livejournal.com/lucetiooc/1198105.html?thread=33030425#t33030425) catches sight of Neville. She hasn't talked to him in a while, so why not now? The Esper woman glides on over, hovering before him and nodding at him with a light smile.]

Hello, Neville!

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-08-16 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
[Terra, why are you pink today? And also naked? Neville reflexively clutches his wand out of jumpy instinct when she approaches, trying to make out what curses might have been lain upon the woman who certainly sounds Terralike, but looks so very very different.] ...Terra?

[identity profile] esper-flight.livejournal.com 2010-08-16 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
[That questioning tone catches her off-guard.]

Of course it's me, silly. Who else would it be?

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-08-16 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
It's just that you're... different today. [Like many of the neighbors seem to be. He doesn't really trust all that black metal that seems to be moving around House 25, personally.] I suspect there's an experiment.

[identity profile] esper-flight.livejournal.com 2010-08-16 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
[Terra looks herself over with the usual -to her- lack of concern for the fact that she's wearing no clothing.]

What do you mean? I don't see anything different.

[She glances back to him and then furrows her brow, hovering a little closer now.]

Is that why you have a scar, now? Or did that happen because of the earthquake?

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-08-16 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
The scar's not new. [Though his muscles are growing taut the longer she stares at it.]

You weren't pink the last time we spoke, though.
hisdarkmark: (I'm suddenly confused)

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2010-08-16 07:39 am (UTC)(link)
[Hey Neville, it's your favorite person ever! Sorta. But see there might be something wrong with the way his favorite person ever appears.

For one thing, he looks about two or three years younger than he should be. There's also the fact that he's dressed a lot more casually than any Malfoy should be. He isn't quite sure where he's going, he's just sort of wandering when he stumbles upon the garden and a much-different Neville Longbottom. Still covered in dirt, but larger.]

...why are you hissing?

[identity profile] esper-flight.livejournal.com 2010-08-16 07:47 am (UTC)(link)
[At least she stops looking at it thanks to that comment, though the confusion doesn't abate.]

What? I've always been this way, Neville.

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-08-16 07:47 am (UTC)(link)
[Neville doesn't really care much about the wrapping. That voice is enough to send a prickling down his spine. It's mostly in an instinctive reaction that he pulls his wand out in a single fluid motion and has it trained firmly at Malfoy's middle.] Flipendo!

[He absolutely refuses to speak to a Draco Malfoy that hasn't at least been sent to the ground once. Malfoys are less harmful when one has a vertical advantage.]

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-08-16 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
It's probably an experiment. That's the kind of thing that's done here. [The poor, delusional thing.. Has no idea she's being influenced, does she?]
hisdarkmark: (I look fierce)

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2010-08-16 07:58 am (UTC)(link)
[There's a yelp that's much higher pitched than it should be as he suddenly finds himself landing on his back in the dirt.] What the hell was that for!?

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-08-16 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
[That was what happens to someone who's learned how to hex before he can be hexed himself. He stalks closer to Draco while still maintaining a few paces' distance out of arm's reach.] What the bloody hell do you want, Malfoy? You know you're not welcome here. [No matter what Harry says. Harry Potter needs to learn how to be more serious about things anyway.]
hisdarkmark: (I'm not pure evil)

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2010-08-16 08:06 am (UTC)(link)
[Draco's only on the ground for a little bit before he sits up to glare at him. Unlike his Slytherin self, this one's not one to cry much when hit.] So you've mentioned for the last four and a half years. Come up with something original already, preferably something that doesn't end with me in the mud.

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-08-16 08:16 am (UTC)(link)
Have you gone daft, Malfoy? If this has anything to do with that heir of Slytherin nonsense again, you're four and a half years too late. If you're ready to have a humane conversation for once, I suggest you set your wand down first.
hisdarkmark: (I can't believe you're serious)

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2010-08-16 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
...why would I care about that of all things now? [He's sitting up on his knees and getting in a crouched position to stand.] Like hell I'm doing that, you're the one who just attacked me!

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-08-16 08:43 am (UTC)(link)
You're the one bringing up second year -- as if any of that even matters anymore -- and don't you even try getting up. [He's going to try a jelly-legs jinx next to keep Draco horizontal, though his aim isn't quite spectacular and veers off mostly to the ground beside Draco.]
hisdarkmark: (I swear you'll pay for that)

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2010-08-16 08:49 am (UTC)(link)
Who said anything about second year? I know you're not that brilliant sometimes, but I thought even you could do simple maths. It's not that har--[He doesn't bother finishing his sentence though because he's rolling out of the way.] Honestly!

[Luckily for him, Hermione (http://community.livejournal.com/lucetiooc/1198105.html?thread=33078809#t33078809) wasn't around while he was talking to the plants. She was in the library. Getting her laughs at the books talking about that ridiculous fantasy thing called magic. So when she runs into her housemate, who she's been avoiding in her room because of her studies, yes, she's still laughing. And then she sees Neville and her eyes go to that scar.]

Honestly, are you trying to copy Harry's ridiculous scar? It's not really working and it's not going to get you any further than it got him. [Which is clearly amusing to her for some reason.]

[identity profile] invidia-keeper.livejournal.com 2010-08-16 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[Staring at the lighting scar. Even as a kid (http://community.livejournal.com/lucetiooc/1198105.html?thread=33027609#t33027609), Naoya doesn't have much manners.]

Neville, that's new. [Literally pointing at it now.]

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-08-16 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Put your wand down, Malfoy. [There's a nervous little tremble creeping into the edge of his voice.]

[action]

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-08-16 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[What, doesn't everyone sit around having deep involved conversations with plantilife? Perfectly normal.]

I'm not copying anything, Hermione. [Though his voice shrinks to something just above a mumble at the amusement in her voice.]

[identity profile] nearlychosen.livejournal.com 2010-08-16 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[Qayin, why are you so small. :| It's dawned on Neville that there's some kind of experiment happening, and he'll at least take it at face value for now.]

It isn't. [He reflexively reaches up to tug his hair over it and better hide the mark.]

[identity profile] invidia-keeper.livejournal.com 2010-08-16 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
It wasn't there yesterday! I wouldn't forget. [He's very adamant on these last words.]

I don't forget anything, remember?

[identity profile] esper-flight.livejournal.com 2010-08-16 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
But...didn't we already have that? The earthquake and then the Espers suddenly arriving? I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to introduce you to my father, but we were so busy trying to help the others....
hisdarkmark: (I really wish you'd stop talking)

[personal profile] hisdarkmark 2010-08-16 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[...sitting up again :|] Make me. [Because in every universe ever, Neville's a chicken.]
