[Good evening, Luceti. It's just past sunset, and neighbors around House 26 might have noticed Neville outdoors a bit later than usual, fussing with an overgrown potted ivy. A wave of a wand and a cheated mumbled incantation later, the plant has grown to twice its size. From there, it's a bit of a boring magic show while he works with ineffective spells, some of them providing mobility to the little vines; mostly, though, there's nothing. Fully engrossed in his work, he doesn't notice some of the vines loosely coiling around him until they begin contracting against his forearms. He yelps in surprise and sets to work stunning the wispy strands, which might have been easier if he'd work on mobilizing it before it was the size of a rather large cat.

[Creep, creep, creep. Naoya's been creeping around. But this makes him stop and look.

Left to his own devices, Neville manages to singe most of the offending vines. The problem is his hesitation with regards to the base of the plant: he won't kill it, which continually provides it with the opportunity to continue being a nuisance. Neville himself isn't sure if he's winning or not.

He doesn't notice the creeper, though. Kind of busy and all.]

[Well hello there, Mysterious Voice! Where did you come from? Neville turns toward the new voice as best he can with his hands full.] Are you familiar with this genus?

Hedera. [That being the genus of all ivy plants.] But you modified it. [He walks over curiously, not bothering to help yet.]

You know your stuff. [Though he's not quite as enthusiastic about it as he normally would be.] Don't come much closer than that, though. Do they have Devil's Snare where you're from? It's not entirely safe.

[Naoya just smirks in response. He pulls out what looks like a gameboy and presses a few buttons on it.]

I've never heard of a Devil's Snare. [ He finishes the input into the COMP, and something akin to electricity will be casted on the ivy-- which may or may not paralyze it, he's never tried it on a plant before.

It's a show of compassion for the plant, because he could have easily burned it.]

[Traditionally speaking, harnessing lightning (which is what electricity does, right? That's as far as Neville's understood it) is a tool used to promote plant growth. However, these aren't exactly traditional circumstances, and the electricity works to at least displace some of the magic he's worked on it, leaving most of the vines to lie limp. Once it does so, he kneels beside it as if checking for some kind of Plant Whisper-y vital signs, not bothering to look over at his mysterious savior.] Then perhaps it's a species unique to my world. Thank you for the help, doubly so for not setting it aflame. [Fire would have been the obvious solution; it says much that this person is aware enough to seek an alternate.]

The one at home is primarily used as a security measure. It eats trespassers. [And since he has no idea who Naoya is, that's all the information he's willing to dispense just now.]

I wasn't on my way to see him in any case, just passing by. Couldn't help but notice the ivy, as I have a bit of a green thumb myself.
